'Let's hop on!' Michael cheered as he stepped out of the car. 'Africa is calling!'
Jack looked up and down the massive ship in front of him. This ship was going to Africa? Jack had heard about Africa on TV when Germain had been watching the news. Apparently they didn't have enough food in Africa for people to eat. How would he survive in such a place if there were no carrots there?
Michael lifted Jack and a bunch of other toys from the back seat of his car. There is a pink elephant, a brown dog and a grey sheep. They all looked at one another in amazement. Jack had a feeling that these three would be his close companions on this trip to their new home.
Micheal carried the lot of them to the ship. The sun reflected so brightly from the sea water that Jack had to close his eyes. The blueness of the water and the sunshine made him feel strangely happy. Perhaps this new life wouldn't be so bad after all.
The dog and the elephant took hold of Jack's hands, as the bag that they were in rocked them from side to side when Michael walked across the bridge leading to the ship. The sheep put his small tail next to Jack's. Jack was sure that they could feel the unity of them as the new group on the ship, as Michael placed them down on the sunny ship deck.
As Michael walked away, Jack and his new companions sat up on the deck. The pink elephant shoo herself and looked at his new gang.
'My name is Pinkpot. What are your names?'
Jack looked at Pinkpot, surprised. 'I never heard any other soft animal talk. I thought I was the only one who could do it since my mother gave me so much love and attention.'
Pinkpot looked at Jack, shook her head and laughed a little. 'Any of us who have been made with love can talk.'
The sheep and the dog nodded in agreement.
'We can talk too,' the dog said. 'My name is Mrs Wrinkles.'
'And I am Clover', the sheep smiled.
'Oh', Jack looked from one to the other. 'Oh... In that case, we can all enjoy this ship and this trip together!' he laughed and they rest smiled at him, the sun gleaming in their eyes.
'Stacy, the girl who made me, grew up and decided to sell me. She no longer needed me', Pinkpot said with a hint of sadness in her voice.
'My owner gave me to his little sister and she then forgot me in a park where I was picked up by a stranger and taken to the flee market', Mrs Wrinkles continued.
'Matthew, the boy who used to own me, became more interested in cars than soft toys and his mum took me to flee market, because of that', Clover nodded.
'We have all lost our owners so we are all on the same boat', Jack summarised all of their thoughts.
'On the same ship, literally!' Pinkpot said and giggled.
Jack and his friends sat on the small deck chairs as the ship pulled off from the shore. They could feel the sea breeze on their faces, as the ship picked up speed. There were seagulls singing to the wind, there were dolphins jumping in the water.
Jack looked around the deck. Him and his companions were not on their own - there were many other soft toys on the deck. They all looked relaxed and happy, as they bathed in the sun. Some of the chatted to each other, some just seemed to enjoy the scenery of the archipelago passing by. They all must have been made with love as well, how would they otherwise be able to talk.
Michael walked back to the deck after a short while. He was whistling a cheerful song.
'Come on, you lot', he said cheerfully and made a gesture towards Jack and his friends. 'These are the others who will be with you in Africa.' Michael waved towards the animals on the other side of the deck. 'I will take you all to an orphanage there and you can make the children there happy. You will love them all and they will love you'
A pony lifted her head from the sun pillow that she had been resting on. ' How many children are there?' She asked.
Jack looked at the pony in amazement and then he looked at Michael. 'You can hear us all talk?'
Michael laughed a warm laughter. 'Sure I can hear you all talk. I am full of love for animals, real and soft ones. I can feel the love that you all were made with and will look after all of you now that your loved ones have passed you on. I am your new farther.'
With that Michael jollily jumped on the next deck and clung the loud metal bell. 'Ohoy, here we come Africa! Ohoy, here we come! Me and my animal family!'
